The worst type of crying

I'm a mess tonight.

I was just told the most horrible news from my parents. No, they're not splitting up. But it's still a family matter and a very serious one at that. I'd want to share the details here but I'd rather not, I might bawl my eyes out again and it's sorta'  confidential for now.

It's so hard when you can't do anything about the situation, when you thought everything was okay but then you find out it's not, And it's so much harder when I know no matter how much I cry, it doesn't change the situation even a single bit.

I hope it gets better in the morning. Have a good night everyone.

Sunday Special

Yes, this is yet another food entry. I think I've been making a lot of 'em lately. But this one's different.

How so?

It's been weeks since the family dined out in a good resto and me and my sister couldn't wait to try out the newly opened Gerry's Grill downtown. We begged mom on the way home from church to try it out, she hesitated a bit, but eventually caved in afterwards.

This was the place fully packed on a Sunday evening.

Sister and mom
Good thing we arrived early at the place, there were only a couple of diners around. And we were situated by the window which was pretty cool. After a good 15 minutes, the place was slowly filled up and I saw some familiar faces with their families too.

Coco Fish Fingers. This one is really good.
We were supposed to order some baked scallops for appetizers bu it was not available so we went for the fish, which was actually really good.

Nilagang Bulalo which was served cold. I mean not really but we prefer our bulalo suuuper  hot.

Sizzling Pusit ala Pobre. This one was my favorite. And it's sizzling!

Their menu mostly consisted of Pinoy delicacies which I have been dying to eat since a week full of calorie-filled, American and Italian-inspired food tripping.

Leche Flan for dessert.
Nothing beats Pinoy food shared with family. And that for me, makes this post different from any other food entries I've made in the past few days. And I always admire restaurants that practices good customer service and this one made us feel at home.

Excellent food and good service, what more could you ask for?

Double Standards

I have been itching since yesterday to finish this post but for some reasons, whenever I tried to write something to start off, I end up deleting it for fear it might be too overrated. Believe me, I tried so many times and found myself hitting backspace just as much. My oh my Judith, you have taken the words right of my mouth, or in this case, my hands. <laff>

When I hit the bookstore 3 days ago and decided to buy this book, I knew I made the right choice. They say, you never forget a first, which is exactly what happened with this first Judith that I bought. When I told my friend that I was reading this, she told me to read it as soon as possible. And when I started reading it, I didn't put the book away until 2:00 in the morning when my eyes are desperately pleading for its life.

The book has taken me into a roller coaster ride of emotions. I found myself laughing, crying and constantly pausing just to mull over what just happened, and then end up smiling afterwards. I applaud the author for that rare ability to do that to its readers and even if I knew the story would eventually end up with a happy ending, the subtle and intricate way of telling the readers how it happened was very well thought off. For years, I have wondered why some people talk highly of this author, and now I know why.

This might be my first book of Judith, but definitely, not my last

A must read.

Two thumbs up with a red nail polish on it!

Friday the 14th!

I managed to give a nervous smile at the person sitting beside me on the commute, she must have been wondering why I can't seem to sit comfortably. "I am running late!" I could shout to her. Me and my friends have been planning for this lunch together to catch up since Medicine have been eating them up alive.

So then I arrived an hour late and met up with Yani, wondering why our friend Zhy is not answering her phone. It turned out I forgot to tell her that the meet-up was moved to lunch, instead of dinner and she cannot possibly join us due to some errands she had to attend to. Yani and I decided to go on with the plan and ate at Mallberry Hotel.

Yani's dish. I forgot what it's called. Steamed rice with something-something.haha

Linguine Pasta for me. It was too oily but delicious nonetheless.
The lounge was surprisingly not crowded, we were actually the only customers there when we arrived. The place was big and dim-lighted which gave a very relaxing mood. It was the perfect place to hang out with a bunch of friends or even having just intimate talks. And the best part was, as fancy as the place is, the food was not even that pricey.

Here are some snapshots of the place:

At the back of the lounge was where the pool and the gym were situated. While waiting for our food, we decided to check it out.

Yani feeling at home.haha

Me at the comfort room.haha
After eating, we went back to the mall and drooled at some of the clothes and SHOES! Well, it was obvious that I drooled more than Yani did, and as disgusting as that sounds, it was for a good cause.haha. I actually had a shoegasm right then and there. I swear those shoes will haunt me tonight.

When we were about to go home, Yani didn't have a change to pay for her commute, so we went to eat some gelato to get some and also to drown out the major depression I was having as I remember those shoes poorly caged in that store. I could only heave a sigh of disappointment to my wallet.<laff>

Yani with her Blueberry Cheesecake gelato.

Coffee Caramel for me!
And I conclude, no gelato could fill the void in my heart and my shoe rack back at home.haha. Yani and I had lots of chika the whole time, it was too bad Zhy and Tiffy were not able to make it. But there will always be a next time.

Cheers to good food and great friends, and unforgettable moments! TGIF the 14th!

Pancakes and Nazis

Yes, you read it right. I had a date with a Nazi. Oh no, not the likes of the obscure corporal Hitler and his anti-communist friends, more like the kraaazeeee and unpredictable friend of mine by the name of Nazimer. Interesting name, don't you think?

Anywhoodles, we arranged to meet by 1 pm but she got stuck in traffic and arrived an hour late. An hour lateSo to rehabilitate my anger management issues, I went to the bookstore and opted for an orgasm instead. Anybody could hear my usual ooohhhss and aaahhhss as I frequently changed position looking into the wide array of books and novels. And the climax? Judith McNaught's Double Standards. I'll give you the deets on that once I'm done reading it.

Drools..

After painfully waiting for what seemed like forever, she finally arrived. And she actually just laughed when she saw me impatiently tapping my foot with hands on my waist.

When we went upstairs, we realized that the movie we wanted to watch wasn't on till 4pm, so we decided to snack on some grubs while waiting. She said she hasn't tried Pancake House yet, so off we went.

She ordered Chicken, Mushroom and Asparagus Linguine

My Caramel Banana Walnut Pancake.
Mango Crepes for dessert. And we actually had the nerve to order another dessert.haha

After a calorie-filled treat, it was time for No Other Woman. This local film had been abuzz for a couple of days now with no less than raging reviews from my friends. Good and sexy actors, passionate sex scenes, excellent storyline, catchy and witty one-liners, I could actually go on and on. Me and Nazi were actually very silent the whole time.

I never really watch local movies that much especially in the movie house, but this one is totally worth every penny spent.

With my camera acting all crazy, I wasn't able to take a picture of her, so I just grabbed this pic from her Facebook account. Can you believe that goofy creature there is actually a nurse? Poor patients!haha. Kidding

No matter how much she annoys me, she is one helluva friend and I wouldn't exchange her for anything. Shoes maybe, but naw, I'm good with her.

We'd like some haircut please.

For the second time already, my nephew had to have his hair cut again. I don't know, his hair seems to grow faster than a white-throated needletail. So my sister and I decided to have him semi-bald which meant more hair to cut and longer crying sessions. My oh my, did he have a fit, almost wanted to stab everybody with scissors and threw everything he could have a hold of.

This was his take before everything started.
Look at his bloodshot eyes after all the crying. Poor thing!
This part of the hair was left uncut for a more badass look
After the salon, we headed for some refreshments. And this is the reason why I love going out with my sister, she pays for everything!!

Yummmy Sundae from Jollibee!

He looked mighty proud with his new haircut, he kept smiling at himself at the rear view mirror all throughout the ride back home.

Thoughts, anyone?

My thoughts on a rainy Monday evening: I'll probably sleep late tonight, which gives me an excuse to wake up late and skip jogging tomorrow morning. I'm sure I'm gonna regret this when I wake up. It's so cold I'm actually having a hard time finishing this post. The dog outside is probably soaking wet. TV's broken. I'm so not inspired right now, where is inspiration when you need one? It's still raining outside. I finally finished reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee today.

Hey there Harper! Nice book you got there!

My thoughts on the book: It took me a while to finish this one. I'd love to meet Boo Radley. I'm so glad racism is not as adamant now as it was decades earlier. We can never really judge anyone. There is nothing greater than a love of a parent for his/her child. People will always talk whether they know the whole story or not. A cup of coffee and a chocolate piece was my constant companion on this journey.

This mug has been with me through thick and thin. And it's still there, stronger than it was before.haha

My thoughts upon finishing this post: Rain's finally stopped. I'm so sleepy I'm gonna post about my nephew's new haircut tomorrow. Yes, he got another one, yet again. I'm going to watch a movie tomorrow! It's sem break already which means I can now go out with my friends. Yey! Can I go to Siargao already? Gahd! When am I gonna start learning how to sew? And drive? Seriously, I need INSPIRATION!
